"Ghamis Kurieri" Returned on Rustavi 2
On March 17, 2020 "Ghamis Kurieri" successfully returned to the air after a 13-year pause, on Rustavi 2. Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia was the first guest of "Ghamis Kurieri". The Minister's first interview was about the subject of universal interest, the worldwide virus, COVID-19, the fight against it and prevention.
The show lasted 1 hour and 8 minutes and on average was watched by 80 thousand viewers over the age of 18 per minute, in 7 big cities of Georgia.
During the Prime Minister's interview, 15.5% of turned on TVs from 22:00 to 23:08 were directed to Rustavi 2.
"Ghamis Kurieri" had the largest number of TV audiences in the 20th minute after the start, on average, 98 thousand viewer per minute, and in this period covered about 99 thousand people over the age of 18. Most of the audience that switched to Rustavi 2 during the program, stayed on the channel for a long time.
Employed individuals comprised most (48%) of the show’s TV audience. In terms of age, the majority of women, (36%) were in the 45-64 age category, while for men, most popular age category was comprised of 18-44 year olds (41%).
Until March 17, on Tuesdays at 22:00, Rustavi 2 was dedicating broadcasting time to the program "Gaatsine da Moige", the average rating of which was lower than the rating of "Ghamis Kurieri" on March 17. This may indicate, that considering the current COVID 19 situation in Georgia and worldwide, program formats like "Ghamis Kurieri" could be more interesting for individuals. It is also noteworthy, that the show aired for the first time after a long pause, which contributed to the growing interest of the audience and that the first guest of the program was the Prime Minister of Georgia.
