Easter Liturgy During Pandemy
Due to pandemic Covid-19 and universal call for “stay at home”, this year, it was possible for most of the Orthodox parish to listen to the Easter liturgy on television.
The live broadcast of the Easter liturgy was on 12 Georgian TV channels and on average, devoted 3 hours. On 12 channels together, 251 thousand people watched the broadcast of Easter liturgy per minute, which represents 17% of the TV audience of Georgian 7 big cities. For at least one minute, 55% of the audience watched the Easter liturgy.
The most of the viewers of the Easter liturgy, 110 thousand people, had Imedi TV, than Mtavari with 37 thousand viewers, Rustavi 2 with 26 thousand viewers and TV Pirveli and Maestro with 21-21 thousand viewers.
The majority of the audience (34%) of the Easter broadcast amounted to 45-64 age group.
It should be noted that, on the night of Easter in 2019, from 21:00 to 06:00 in the morning, 54% of the audience watched Georgian TV channels, and in 2020, that figure has risen to 68%.
