New Year’s Congratulation Speeches
The officials of the Government of Georgia and the Patriarch traditionally congratulated the population on the advent of the new 2021. The congratulation speeches started a few minutes before the New Year. The President of Georgia, the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Parliament, the Mayor of Tbilisi and the Patriarch congratulated people on the coming of 2021.
The Patriarch's New Year congratulation speech was broadcasted on 13 channels and in Tbilisi it covered 211 thousand viewers, while in region - 89 thousand viewers. According to the data of 3 channels ("Imedi", "Channel 1", "TV Pirveli") 3% less viewers watched the congratulation speech of the Patriarch this year compared to the previous year. 38% of the patriarch’s congratulation speech’s audience were men and 62% were women.
The President of Georgia congratulated the New Year from the Orbeliani Palace. Her congratulation speech was broadcasted on 14 channels in total, and in Tbilisi it reached 227 thousand viewers, while in region - 108 thousand. According to the data of 3 channels ("Imedi", "Channel 1", "TV Pirveli"), 16% less viewers watched the President's congratulation speech compared to the previous year. The most, 21% of the audience of the President’s speech were women aged 45-64, while the 5% were men aged 4-17.
As for the Prime Minister's congratulation speech, it aired on 13 channels and in Tbilisi it covered 239 thousand, and in region 99 thousand viewers. 35% of the audience of Giorgi Gakharia's congratulation speech were men and 65% were women.
The speech of the Chairman of Parliament was broadcasted on 12 channels and covered 216 thousand viewers in Tbilisi and 98 thousand viewers in region. 21% of the audience of Archil Talakvadze's congratulation speech were women aged 45-64, and the lowest 5-5% were men aged 4-17 and over 65.
Only 4 channels aired the New Year congratulation speech of the Mayor of Tbilisi and it covered 178 thousand viewers in Tbilisi and 68 thousand viewers in region. 38% of the audience of Kakha Kaladze's congratulation speech were men and 62% were women.

The Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia’s congratulation speech which lasted 3 minutes, covered 23% of the audience. The President, with her the longest 6-minute speech, covered 22% of the audience. The patriarch with his two-and-a-half-minute congratulation speech covered 20% of the audience, while the Chairman of Parliament covered 21% of the audience. As for the Mayor of Tbilisi, he had a minute and a half of congratulation speech and covered 17% of the audience.
